Competition to bring in Asia's highest ransom of '85.8 billion'

Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad) is receiving attention from big clubs. Competition to recruit him is expected to intensify.

British media 'Cut Offside' reported on the 8th (Korean time), "Manchester City is interested in recruiting Kubo. They have included him as one of their targets."

“Coach Pep Guardiola is interested in Kubo, but it may be difficult to sign him even with a huge budget,” he said, adding, “This is because Real Madrid inserted a buy-back option into his contract for 2022.”

He also said, “Kubo can be transferred for 51 million pounds (approximately 85.8 billion won). However, Real Madrid holds 50% rights to Kubo. They can veto transfers to other clubs.” Real Madrid also said, “We will be looking to recruit him,” he said.

Kubo currently boasts the highest ransom in Asia. He beat Son Heung-min, Kim Min-jae, and Lee Kang-in. The statistical media 'Transfermarkt' updated the price of Asian players in December last year. Kubo's transfer fee rose from 30 million euros to 60 million euros (about 86.5 billion won). He boasts such outstanding influence.

Kubo, who plays for Real Sociedad, has 6 goals and 4 assists in a total of 26 games this season. He has six goals and three assists in 18 La Liga games, including 16 as a starter.

He is a player who has shown outstanding potential since his youth days. After growing up in the Barcelona youth team, he became the youngest player to debut in the Japanese J-League (15 years, 5 months, 1 day) and the youngest scorer (15 years, 10 months) to score at FC Tokyo in 2016. He is a highly regarded prospect since his youth.

Real Madrid, seeing his high potential, signed a contract with Kubo for the 2019-20 season. He never played for Real Madrid. He continued his loan spell with several teams, including Mallorca, Villa Real, and Getafe. Kubo, who decided to completely transfer to Real Sociedad in the 2022-23 season, is playing a key role in the team through his outstanding performance. Currently, he has emerged as one of the wingers with the most growth potential in European football.

He has been the subject of recent transfer rumors. There was talk that Liverpool wanted Kubo as Mohamed Salah's successor. Manchester United is also said to want him. This time, he even showed interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid. The transfer competition is expected to intensify this summer.
